Copyright and DMCA Policy

Dhun.io is a tool for working on audio. Most of what passes through it is private to the person who uploaded it. Where users publish work — a public profile, a shared project — that material is theirs and they are responsible for having the rights to it.

We respond to valid notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

Email legal@dhun.io with the subject line "DMCA Notice". To be effective under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3), your notice must include all of the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or someone authorised to act for them.

2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.

3. Identification of the material you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it — a URL is best.

4. Your address, telephone number and email address.

5. A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

We review notices promptly. Where a notice is valid we remove or disable access to the material and notify the user who posted it, including a copy of the notice.

We do not adjudicate ownership disputes. If a notice is facially valid we act on it; if the user disagrees, the counter-notice process below is the route.

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, send a counter-notice to legal@dhun.io including: your signature; identification of the material and where it was before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; and your name, address and telephone number, with a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if you are outside the United States, any district in which we may be found).

We will forward it to the complaining party. If they do not file a court action within ten business days, we may restore the material.

Accounts that are the subject of repeated valid notices are terminated.

Knowingly making a material misrepresentation in a notice or a counter-notice carries liability for damages under §512(f). This applies in both directions.
